The coming elections will be a decisive moment for America

The coming elections will be a decisive moment for America

Christians should cast their ballot to elect a President mindful that we must render account to Christ our King. Woe if we turn a blind eye to the abortion genocide and the growing moral anarchy. Today they kill the unborn and violent mobs decapitate statues of Jesus, Mary, and the saints. Soon they will come after us.

No politician or party represents the totality of our values and beliefs. That does not mean that we remain ambivalent or silent. It means that we do not sell our soul to any ideology and must remain free to speak, no matter where the attacks come from. This election is not just about divergent policies. It is a battle to uphold fundamental principles and the rights of those who take their faith seriously. Archbishop Charles Chaput put it this way: Today’s Democratic Party is not opposed to Catholics, “unless you’re the kind of Catholic who seeks to discipline his life around Catholic beliefs regarding marriage and family, religious freedom, sex, and abortion.”[1]

· Abortion and infanticide
Abortion is not only a Catholic or even religious issue. It is first a human rights issue.[2] That is why the Church calls abortion “intrinsically evil.”

Joe Biden supports the right of unlimited abortion, funded by the taxpayers, up until the moment of birth.[3] He has promised to enshrine abortion as a “constitutional right…under any circumstance”.[4] He vowed to fund Planned Parenthood, which does illegal partial-birth abortions to sell baby parts.[5]

The culture of death is spreading to infanticide, euthanasia, and assisted suicide. Democrats would deny that they support infanticide but the fact is that they blocked the “Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act” from coming to a vote in the House. The sole purpose of this bill is to provide medical care to infants who survive abortion. Kamala Harris voted twice against it.[6] Mr. Biden endorsed Gov. Ralph Northam, who said that if a baby were sufficiently disabled at birth, there could be a “conversation” between doctors and the mother.[7]

It is often said that we should not be “single-issue voters,” but that depends on the gravity of the issue. If someone, for example, proposes to allow the killing of teenagers, that single issue would be enough to deny him our vote. Many fail to see that the same applies to abortion because our culture has desensitized us. We have become accustomed to this genocide. St John Paul II teaches that “The absolute inviolability of God finds its primary and fundamental expression in the inviolability of human life.”[8]

How about the other issues such as health and the economy? St. John Paul II teaches:

The common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights—for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture—is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination.[9]

The Church has always proclaimed that “the first right of a human person is his life.” [10] A politicians’ support for any human right is hollow if he does not respect the right to life. Bishop Donald J. Hying puts it this way:

If a candidate is fundamentally wrong on such a basic and preeminent human rights issue of grave consequence to the most innocent in our society and to our own future, how can I trust the candidate to make moral and prudent decisions on many other important social justice issues pertaining to the common good?[11]

Some argue that abortion will never go away, but that is what some said about slavery. It will be a long battle but much can be done to limit abortions[12] now and protect women.[13] But Presidential candidate Mr. Joe Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, oppose all of these laws:

· Laws which would require abortion facilities to maintain the same standards as all other surgical centers.[14]
· Laws that would require abortionists to have admitting privileges to hospitals within 30 miles of the facility,[15]
· Laws that require abortion centers to have facilities the equivalent of an ambulatory surgical center,[16]
· Law that would ban late-term abortions. (more than 8,000 viable children are aborted every year).[17]

In addition,
· Kamala Harris co-sponsored the “Women’s Health Protection Act”, which “would invalidate any and all state-level protections for unborn children after the point of viability — indeed, up until birth.” It would also make it impossible for states to enact or enforce informed-consent laws and waiting-period requirements, which have often been upheld by courts as permissible under our current abortion jurisprudence.”[18]
· Kamala Harris, as California attorney general, sponsored a bill requiring pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise for abortion services. She also voted against a bill that would have limited abortions to the first 20 weeks of pregnancy.[19] This is the person who Mr. Biden says will have the “last voice in the room” when he makes decisions.
· Pro-life Democrats recommended the Platform Committee of the Democratic Party to insert language committing the Party to make abortion rare and to make the case in favor of adoption, but the Party refused.[20]

· Redefine the meaning of human sexuality in law and society
Mr. Biden says that the Equality Act will be his No. 1 priority as President.[21]This legislation already passed in the House thanks to solid Democrat support. Some consequences of passing this law[22]:
· To incorporate sexual orientation and gender identity into all schools.
· To allow students who identify as transgender to compete on girls’ teams and access their restrooms, lockers, and showers.
· To perform irreversible gender-transition procedures on minors.[*]
· To eventually ban counseling that helps children with gender dysphoria to identify with their sex.
· Adoption and foster care agencies can lose federal funds if they decline to place children with same-sex couples, forcing them to close.

· Attack on religion:
· They omitted the words “under God” from the Pledge of allegiance at their convention. Not even the mention of God has a place in their agenda.
· They oppose religious freedom.
· Mention of “conscience” was removed from the 2020 Democratic platform.[23]
· Mr. Biden promised to remove freedom of conscience protections for which the Little Sisters of the Poor fought and won in the Supreme Court.[24] He said that he will sue the nuns, yet his ads feature him as a devout Catholic who credits the nuns for his faith.[25]
· Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, appealed to the need to “follow the science” to support the San Francisco ban on Catholic worship while allowing multiple patrons in other indoor establishments.[26]

· Block Christians from becoming judges, even though the Constitution forbids “religious tests” for public office. The emerging view among Democrats is that moral convictions associated with the Christian faith disqualify a person for an office of public trust. Examples: Democratic senators opposed to Judge Amy Coney Barret[27]and judge Brian Buescher[28] specifically because they are members of Catholic organizations. Judge Barret was told that “the dogma lives in you.[29]” Ironically, Democrats want judges that legislate their own party dogma from the bench instead of adhering to the law.

· Violence, revolution, and Black Lives Matter.
· Mr. Biden claims to be against mob violence, yet he is unwilling to speak the truth about Antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM).
· Kamala Harris funded a group that put up bail for those arrested in the riots.[30]

A vacuum of faith is always filled by ideologies. Liberties, such as religious freedom, free speech, freedom of association, majority rule, protection of minorities’ rights, are co-opted and emptied of their original meaning. Even the most exalted ideals, such as “justice” and “progress,” become a façade to advance the ideology. Some examples:
· The French Revolution exalted “liberty”, “equality” and “fraternity” while at the same time enforcing a reign of terror. A few examples:
· Communists[31]in Russia promised “peace, land, and bread”, things most desired by workers and the soldiers. Instead, the error of which Mary warned in Fatima has produced genocide and slavery of millions.
My family is Cuban and during the revolution there, a friend of my mother, who had escaped communism in Hungary, alerted her that Cuba was about to fall to communism. My mom thought she was crazy. The revolution promised much needed “social justice” and “agrarian reform.” Mom later regretted not listening to her friend. Nobody believes the horrors of communism unless they have lived them.
· The Marxist tactic is to search for what is evil in a society to exploit it and foment revolution. Once everything is destroyed, they expect utopia to happen under their auspices but the result is tyranny. This is how the devil works: It procures evil and then offers a solution for it to finish off the victim.

What is the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement?

· BLM is an important consideration in this election because Kamala Harris praises BLM for their “brilliance” and “impact.” She said: “I actually believe that ‘Black Lives Matter’ has been the most significant agent for change within the criminal justice system” “I always am going to interpret these protests as an essential component of evolution in our country”.[32]
· So, what is behind BLM? Marxists in the USA have chosen racism as a pretext to advance their revolution. They know that the great majority of Americans reject racism and that it touches deep wounds and stirs strong emotions. Yes, black lives matter–as does every human life. But the BLM movement is conflated with an organization with Marxist leadership. Patrisse Cullors, Co-founder of BLM, is on video saying: “We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories.[33]” That explains why BLM persecutes those who disagree with them[34] and makes no apology when their supporters murder, loot, burn businesses, and chant threats and blasphemies. For Marxists, the end justifies the means.
· BLM is racist. It teaches that racial identity is more important than our common identity as human beings and that white persons, on account of their race, are oppressors. At the same time BLM encourages participation of persons of any race who want to engage in the tactics of their revolution.
· Attacks on Police. The police –like all institutions– needs reform. Nowhere should racism and abuse be tolerated. However, BLM has created a narrative of police brutality and systematic violence that contradicts the evidence.[35] BLM commits violence even against Black police officers.[36] They call for defunding the police even though the police is called by residents of minority communities disproportionately more because that is where there are more victims of crime.[37] Since BLM began advocating to defund police crime rate has spiked.[38]
· As of Sept. 17, 2020, the organization’s “about” page said the group was “a queer-affirming network” that works to ‘disrupt’ the ‘nuclear family.’
· BLM leaders also promote channeling spirits and claim that spirits empower them in their work.[39]
· All this is in stark contrast to the historical civil rights movement inspired by Christian principles, as exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King, Dorothy Day, and many others.

Eugene Rivers, a Black Pentecostal minister, called the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation “a scam that exploits the suffering of Black people to promote gender ideology.”[40]

· Cardinal Wilfred Napier of Durban, South Africa, who is Black and participated in the struggle against apartheid, wrote: “It’s time to state honestly what BLM really stands for — destroying the traditional Family AND what it actually does — destroying property including religious building and objects!”[41] See also

We must vote, but that is not enough. I believe that we have entered a time of great tribulation. Satan has unleashed the culture of death and lawlessness. Only those who repent and live authentic Christian lives will persevere. Pray and trust! We will suffer much, but God will purify us and give us the power of the Holy Spirit for this decisive battle. God will again triumph through a small remnant.
